Homemade Peach Ice Cream

Harry & David | Dessert, Peaches |American

If you're looking to cool off from the summer heat and love making things from scratch, then this dreamy Homemade Peach Ice Cream recipe is for you! Made with Harry & David peaches, it's a summer treat that's both classic and delicious.

Homemade ice cream is an amazing way to beat the summer heat. And since August is the heart of peach season, we decided to toss in a few of our juicy peaches for an added treat. It's creamy, cool, and so tasty! Our peaches add a bit of extra sweetness too, so it's a perfect dessert to enjoy at any BBQ or summer picnic. And for even more peach flavor, add a scoop of this ice cream on top of some peach cobbler. Summer dessert doesn't get more classic than this. We love this peachy treat and we're sure you will too!

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe Harry & David peaches
  • 1 cups whole milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/4 cup whipping cream
  • Juice of half a lemon

Instructions

  1. Bring the milk to a gentle simmer in a medium-sized saucepan.
  2. While keeping an eye on the milk, whisk the eggs, egg yolks, and cup sugar in a bowl.
  3. Gently whisk in cup of the warm milk, then return the egg mixture to the saucepan.
  4. Keeping the flame low, cook, stirring with a wooden spoon until the mixture is thick enough to coat the back of the spoon, about 15 minutes.
  5. Transfer mixture to a bowl, and fold in the whipping cream. Refrigerate until cold.
  6. Dice the peeled peaches, then add the remaining sugar and the lemon juice. Refrigerate for two hours.
  7. Drain the peach juice into the cream mixture, mix, and pour into the ice cream maker.
  8. Process until the mixture starts to set and add the diced peaches.
  9. Continue to process a few more minutes to blend the fruit and the cream mixture, then freeze until ready to enjoy.
