To make this Hot Buttered Rum Coffee Recipe, you'll whip together butter, spices and brown sugar. The butter blend can be made up to a week in advance and goes great on toast or a spoon. Just before serving, add a dollop or two to a coffee mug and top with rum. Fill your mug with your favorite Harry & David coffee (We love the creme brulee coffee flavor) and whisk the ingredients together, then top with whipped cream. Sprinkle with nutmeg and serve!

Ingredients

  • 8 tablespoons salted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 4 ounces dark rum
  • 4 cups freshly brewed coffee
  • Whipped cream, if desired

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and nutmeg together until smooth.
  2. Chill for 20-30 minutes or until firm.
  3. Spoon 1 tablespoon spiced butter into a coffee mug.
  4. Pour 1 ounce rum over butter and top with 1 cup of coffee.
  5. Stir to combine.
  6. Repeat with remaining butter, rum and coffee.
  7. Serve immediately with whipped cream and a sprinkle of nutmeg.
