"This year I have taken advantage of the wonderful sales offered by Harry&David and sent 10 friends and family the Harry's Collection gifts which delighted all the recipients! I decided to get myself a "gift" for Valentine's Day and ordered the Cream of the Crop box. OH MY GOODNESS! I cannot think of sufficient superlatives to describe these marvelous pears! The smell alone when you lift the lid off the box is glorious, then you see five HUGE pears. Then the waiting and checking until finally, the first one is ripened....the slow, savoring, deliciousness as you eat. Oh, my.

"My whole family looks forward each year to having these pears for dessert (along with some artisanal gorgonzola cheese) over the holidays. It's become a tradition. Four boxes last us from Xmas Eve thru New Year's dinners. They are so large that one can feed 2-3 people. If you're ordering the Royal Riviera Pears splurge on the "Cream of the Crop"--they are definitely worth it. Ripen them in the box or remove some of them and place in individual brown paper lunch bags for quicker ripening. Ready to eat in 3-4 days. Sweet and juicy--better than dessert pastry!! We've never been disappointed."
